About the speakerMakram El-Shagi is full professor of economics at Henan University and director of the CFDS. He holds honorary positions as research professor at the Halle Institute of Economics Research and research associate at the Center for Economic Research at the University of Wisconsin - River Falls. He has extensive experience in policy advice, working for several years as senior economist (and head of a research group on financial markets) at the Halle Institute and consulting for the ECB. He has an extensive track record in the empirical analysis of monetary policy -- in particular using Divisia aggregates, the interaction of risk and the macroeconomy, and small sample econometrics. He has published roughly 30 SSCI papers on these issues in the past years, is on the editorial board of Panoeconomics (SSCI) and has edited (or is editing) special issues in 4 other SSCI journals (Journal of International Money and Finance, Review of International Economics, Macroeconomic Dynamics, Economic Modelling).
