Our Faculty and Students Visited Lenovo Future Center in Tianjin

On November 24, 2024, Qi Yudong, Dean of BNUBS, Zhou Jianghua, a teacher from the Department of Digital Economy and Management, Li Lun, a double shouldered counselor, and Xu Kaige led a team to Lenovo Tianjin Future Center for exchange and learning. A total of 40 students from BNUBS, including party members, active party applicants, and students from the 2024 Business Administration (Digital Economy and Management Experiment) class, participated in this event.

Before the visit officially began, the "Smart Ring" in the hall gave students a shock from AI digital technology. It consists of three adjustable circular devices, symbolizing the continuity and infinite possibilities of information flow in AI technology. The undulating changes of the circular ring echo the continuous transmission and learning iteration process of data in the AI model, guiding students to look from Tianjin's past to the "future". Subsequently, the guide explained the departments and business structure of Lenovo Group to the teachers and students in front of the sandbox, deepening their understanding and recognition of Lenovo Company.

In the "Industry Intelligence" exhibition area, the presenter started from Lenovo's entrepreneurial journey and talked about the company's digitalization process. The guide vividly demonstrated how the "Lenovo Xiaotian" intelligent agent leads the AI terminal by operating Lenovo's new generation laptop, and then used this as a guide to sequentially demonstrate how Lenovo uses AI digital technology to empower fields such as smart cars, smart education, smart tourism, smart finance, and smart venture capital. Surprised by the rapid development of digital technology, many students also experienced projects such as Lenovo cars and VR tours with excitement, experiencing firsthand the convenience brought by digital technology - from daily necessities such as clothing, food, housing, and transportation to the protection of cultural relics and ancient buildings. The development of digital technology is closely related to humanity and civilization.

In the "Intelligent Manufacturing and Supply Chain Collaboration" exhibition area, students gained a deep understanding of how AI technology can support PC product demand forecasting and supply chain collaboration through the detailed introduction of Lenovo's "18 Martial Arts" by the presenter. Then, the students entered Lenovo's intelligent manufacturing factory and visited production workshops such as motherboard production lines and computer production lines led by robotic arms and intelligent robots. They witnessed the intelligent speed of "one motherboard/computer goes offline every 10 seconds" and gained a concrete understanding of digital twins and intelligent manufacturing.

Finally, the students visited Lenovo's "From the Future to the Future" digital civilization art exhibition. The exhibition began with "Prelude to the Future" and responded to people's infinite curiosity about exploring the future in the era of communication with a series of sound art works, showcasing the arrival of the digital civilization era. The chapter of "Pentium Era" took the iteration of personal computers as the clue, leading the audience into a rapidly developing "Pentium Era", presenting the scene of rapid technological development. The chapter of "Digital Freshman" presented a colorful urban landscape at the beginning of the 21st century, with changing light and shadow allowing students to observe the hustle and bustle of urban people from a new perspective. In the midst of the leap, the students immediately fell into the current state of "instant everything" constructed by cutting-edge technology, and ultimately experienced a digital ocean composed of emerging technologies such as virtual reality and artificial intelligence. Through the 360 ° fully wrapped images of "Earth-2", they "encountered their future" selves while traveling.

Starting from the smart environment and ending with 'Earth 2', students witnessed the evolution of digital civilization, witnessed the endless growth of data, and felt the iterative strengthening of computing power... People are pouring the wheels of innovation, and the wheels support the cars and horses of numbers. Civilization develops and evolves in the ruts. Lenovo uses its technological ingenuity to paint the map of the "future", but in the eyes of students, the digital future is far more than that. Under the feet of students, the digital future should extend to farther places.
