Our Students Go to British and American Universities to Carry out Summer Programs

In the summer of 2024, a total of 30 students from our School went to the University of Cambridge and the University of Wisconsin-Madison for a two-week summer program.

Twenty-four of the students attended a summer programme at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge. Students entered the University of Cambridge, immersed in the academic atmosphere of the ancient institution, and participated in a variety of courses and activities. The unique teaching methods and the long history of the University of Cambridge have left a deep impression on students and stimulated their enthusiasm for knowledge exploration and learning. The project offers two courses, "Strategy and Innovation" and "Business Applications of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence", taught by well-known professors from Cambridge University. Apart from the course, students also visited Panmure Liberum, the UK's largest investment bank, and BMW's Mini Cooper factory in Oxford to learn about the development and operation of foreign companies. In addition, the program also invited a number of Cambridge graduates and students to have in-depth exchanges with our students, and the students felt encouraged and motivated.

"I learned a lot from the summer camp at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge. The two-week summer camp was packed with academic lectures, practical lessons and cultural exchanges. The course set-up is very reasonable and each day has a different theme and objective, allowing us to understand the full range of business innovation and cross-cultural management. During the whole summer camp, we could not only listen to the lectures of the world's top professors, but also participate in the actual case analysis, and go to the top investment bank to investigate and study, which gave me the opportunity to deeply understand the difference between the actual operation mode of foreign investment banks and domestic investment banks, and listen to the experts share their career development experiences and suggestions, which was interesting and dry."

-- Lin Zhiyuan, Master of Accounting, grade 2023

"As the two-week study in Cambridge comes to an end, I am filled with sadness and gratitude. This period of time seems to be a carefully planned academic and cultural feast, so that I travel in the ocean of knowledge, in the palace of culture intoxicated. In the courses of "Strategy & Innovation" and "Big Data and AI in Business", I have not only mastered cutting-edge business theories and technologies, but also learned how to examine and solve real world problems with innovative thinking. The communication with the teachers and students of Cambridge made me deeply feel the academic rigor and enthusiasm, as well as the unremitting spirit of pursuing excellence.

In addition, the museum tour in Cambridge, the viewing of open-air plays, the in-depth conversation with graduates, and the experience of enterprise visits are like bright stars dotted in my memory. They have not only enriched my knowledge, but also broadened my horizon and gave me a more comprehensive and profound understanding of the world."

-- Xuebing Sun, Grade 2023 Doctor of Accounting

Six other students from our School participated in the PAPSI Summer program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. With the theme of "Digital Economics, Business & Finance and Sustainability", the programme covers entrepreneurship, sustainability, digital economics and many other areas, taught by professors and industry experts who are renowned in their fields. The program also includes extensive field trips and career development activities, including visiting to EPIC, the "pioneer of electronic medical records" in the United States, the American fast food company Culver's, and local farms and whiskey distilleries. It covers a wide range of industries, helping students to understand industry dynamics, expand contacts and enhance professional quality. The professors also made valuable suggestions for students' future study and career development through lectures. Students have not only benefited a lot from the professional knowledge, but also appreciated the careful arrangement of the project team teachers in life.

"After two weeks of intense study and practice, I made significant progress in many aspects. First, I have gained a deeper understanding and mastery of expertise, especially in the areas of entrepreneurship, sustainability and digital economics. Secondly, my cross-cultural communication ability and teamwork ability have been significantly improved, and I have established deep friendships with classmates from different universities. Finally, I have a clearer understanding and orientation of my future career planning, and have defined my development direction and goals. It was an unforgettable learning experience. It not only let me harvest a wealth of knowledge and valuable experience, but also let me take a solid step on the road of growth. "

-- Zhang Baihui, MBA Class of 2022

"The summer program at Wisconsin-Madison was very impressive and rewarding. First, the school teachers provided very intimate learning and life services. Second, the curriculum offered is highly qualified, and the content taught is fresh and relevant to the current economy. Third, the school has provided in-depth guidance to students who want to continue their studies in Madison in the future, and has pointed out the direction for exchange students, master's or doctoral studies. The fourth is the beautiful Madison campus and city life. Madison is worthy of being one of the most livable cities in the United States, and people's sense of relaxation can be seen everywhere by the Mendota Lake. Many people call Lake Mendota "Dream of Her" Lake. When the plane landed at the capital airport, I was also wondering when I could visit here again."
