BNUBS Hosted the "Benefiting the World with Economics and Management, Pioneering a New Journey" Doctoral Research Empowerment Salon

In order to help doctoral students systematically improve their research capabilities and clarify their career development paths, on the morning of April 24, 2025, BNUBS, in collaboration with Boji Academy, held the "Benefiting the World with Economics and Management, Pioneering a New Journey" - Doctoral Research Empowerment Salon and "School Activity Day" event on the Changping Campus. Sun Zhijun, the Party secretary of the School; Li Kaijie, the Dean of the School of Economics at Henan University of Economics and Law and a 2013 - level Ph.D. alumnus; Chen Qingqing, the Associate Dean of Boji Academy; Han Lili, the Associate Party Secretary of the School; Xiang Hongyu, an Associate Professor in the Department of Finance; Wang Xue, a Lecturer in the Department of Digital Economy and Management; Xu Kaige, a part - time Counselor; Du Jing, a Counselor of Boji Academy; and more than 20 doctoral students participated in the event. Xu Kaige served as the host of this event.



On behalf of Boji Academy at Beijing Normal University, Teacher Chen Qingqing delivered a speech, extending sincere greetings to the teachers and students present. She also introduced to the attendees the various doctoral training programs and cultural and sports activities carried out by Boji Academy on the Changping Campus, aiming to contribute to high - quality talent cultivation.



The event focused on core topics such as the construction of research thinking, academic paper publication, and job - hunting in universities, and in - depth exchanges were carried out through special topic sharing and teacher - student dialogues. Professor Li Kaijie, with the theme of "Some Insights on Research and Faculty Career Development", combined his personal experiences during his Ph.D. studies and after starting work. Starting from detailed cases in his roles as an economics Ph.D. student, the director of the editorial department of a CSSCI - indexed journal, and the dean of a school, he provided meticulous suggestions and guidance to the doctoral students present on paper writing, submission, and job - hunting.



Teacher Xiang Hongyu shared her research and work experiences along the main lines of "How to Increase the Likelihood of Graduation", "Should One Become a University Teacher", and "Those Things That May Be More Important". She suggested that students communicate more with other teachers and peers. Teacher Xiang emphasized that while striving for excellence, one should also act according to one's ability and spend the Ph.D. years smoothly with a proper balance between work and rest.



Teacher Wang Xue shared her study, job - hunting, and research experiences with the teachers and students present. She put forward three suggestions to the doctoral students, namely "establishing a reasonable work process", "integrating resources", and "forging a strong mentality", using specific and vivid examples. Combining her own experiences of submitting papers and getting them published, Teacher Wang Xue said that whether it is writing or job - hunting, one should make early preparations. Teacher Wang's humorous metaphors resonated with the students present, leading to frequent interactions and a warm atmosphere at the scene.



At the end of the event, Sun Zhijun, the Party secretary of the School, expressed his gratitude to the guest teachers present, sent greetings to the doctoral students, and patiently responded to the students' opinions and suggestions. Mr. Sun pointed out that this event is an important part of the School's doctoral student training. He encouraged the students to deeply engage in their research with the determination of "being willing to sit on the bench for ten years in solitude", and the School will fully support their growth paths.
