Building Consensus for Development, Deepening Connotations to Strengthen Disciplines —— The Successful Convening of the Symposium on Economics Discipline Construction of Our School

To further strengthen the construction of the economics discipline in our School, clarify the direction of discipline development, coordinate the development of theoretical economics and applied economics, and enhance the overall strength of the discipline, the school held a symposium on discipline construction on July 7, 2025. Qi Yudong, Dean of the School, Sun Zhijun, Secretary of the Party Committee, Jiang Jie, Associate Dean, and more than 30 teachers from the economics discipline attended the symposium. The meeting was chaired by Wei Hao, Associate Dean.



At the beginning of the meeting, Wei Hao emphasized the importance of the meeting and gave a detailed introduction and explanation on the basic situation of the discipline, focusing on issues such as the optimization and standardization of the doctoral enrollment plan, the adjustment of the enrollment directions of doctoral supervisors, the layout of key research directions, and the construction of discipline platforms. Wei Hao first made a detailed interpretation of the excellent scientific research strategy and the adjustment of the scientific research fund support policy in combination with the university documents. Drawing on the excellent cases of sister universities, he emphasized the relationship between the construction of scientific research platforms, serving national major needs, and discipline development. He introduced the current status of discipline layout and explained the documents and directions for the adjustment of discipline layout. In addition, he summarized and analyzed the opportunities and challenges faced by discipline development.

Subsequently, the participating teachers spoke freely, expressing their respective ideas from the perspectives of encouraging differentiation, integrating the teams of secondary disciplines, and clarifying discipline leaders and backbones, and put forward suggestions for the school's future development direction and priorities.

Finally, Qi Yudong made a summary. He emphasized the importance of adjusting the secondary directions according to the discipline catalog of the Ministry of Education, which involves discipline evaluation, enrollment planning and future development planning, and pointed out the necessity of clarifying discipline directions, strengthening the construction of the supervisor team and improving the quality of research results. At the same time, he stressed that attention should be paid to talent training, committed to cultivating future economists and management scientists, and promoting the rapid growth of young teachers. Finally, he proposed that it is necessary to further optimize resource allocation, promote inter-disciplinary cooperation and resource sharing, so as to enhance the competitiveness and influence of the discipline.
