Time :2026-06-05

To further advance the School’s AACSB international accreditation process and continuously optimize the construction of the Assurance of Learning (AOL) system, BNUBS convened a special seminar on AOL improvement in Room 9406 of Jingshi Building on the afternoon of May 27. Hu Conghui, Associate Dean of BNUBS, faculty representatives responsible for course teaching, and relevant staff from the International Accreditation Office attended the meeting.

The seminar was presided over by Associate Dean Hu Conghui. At the outset, he updated all participants on the latest progress of BNUBS’s AACSB initial accreditation work, with a focused interpretation of the feedback and rectification requirements proposed by the AACSB Initial Accreditation Committee (IAC) concerning Standard 5 (Assurance of Learning). He emphasized that the AOL system constitutes not only a core component of AACSB accreditation criteria, but also a pivotal mechanism for BNUBS to sustainably elevate its talent cultivation quality. The establishment of a rigorous and systematic learning outcome assessment and continuous improvement mechanism enables the School to effectively evaluate the attainment of student cultivation goals, drive the iterative optimization of curriculum systems and teaching models, and achieve steady progress in talent training quality.

Subsequently, Li Jingya from the International Accreditation Office systematically reviewed the AACSB AOL standards, elaborating on the core philosophies, standardized implementation procedures and ongoing institutional practices of BNUBS’s AOL system. In accordance with AACSB accreditation requirements, she pinpointed key deficiencies in the current AOL construction, including generalized learning objective formulation, insufficient differentiation of assessment results, inadequate alignment between evaluation tools and learning objectives, and underdeveloped closed-loop improvement mechanisms. Furthermore, she put forward targeted improvement strategies and work specifications covering the restructuring of learning objectives, the optimization of evaluation methodologies, the refinement of scoring rubrics, and the reinforcement of the "Closing the Loop" continuous improvement mechanism.

In the final session, participating faculty engaged in in-depth discussions on the key and challenging issues pertaining to AOL system development. All attendees reached a consensus that AOL construction serves far beyond accreditation compliance; it acts as a fundamental approach to deepen educational and teaching reforms and enhance the overall effectiveness of talent cultivation. Leveraging this special seminar as a key impetus, BNUBS will further refine its learning assurance system, strengthen the construction of full-cycle continuous improvement mechanisms, and provide solid institutional support for the smooth progression of AACSB international accreditation and the high-quality development of talent cultivation.
