The School Successfully Held the 11th Undergraduate Academic Forum

Approaching academics, consolidating foundations, broadening horizons, and exploring frontiers - to further promote the School's scientific research development, encourage undergraduates to carry out scientific research exploration, drive students to discover problems from practice, analyze problems with academics, and solve problems with results, so as to achieve a positive cycle of "promoting action with knowledge and acquiring knowledge through action", and help them grow into comprehensive talents with both academic literacy and practical concern. On July 3, 2025, our School held the 11th Undergraduate Academic Forum in the Jingwen Lecture Hall. Jiang Jie, Associate Dean of the School, Yang Chengyu from the Department of Economics, Zhang Shengling from the Department of Political Economy, Lin Yongsheng and Chen Su from the Department of Finance, and Sun Changling from the Department of Accounting attended the forum. The forum was hosted by Dai Mi, Director of the Department of International Economics and Trade.

This Undergraduate Academic Forum received a total of 52 undergraduate thesis submissions, involving 112 students. After the preliminary evaluation, 17 theses were selected for the sub-forums, and finally 6 theses entered the main forum.

In the thesis presentation session, six students, namely Lü Fengye, Wei Chenchen, Xiao Huijie, Wang Zhuoran, Pan Qiuyi, and Hu Tianyi, respectively introduced their selected theses, systematically expounding on the research background, research methods, conclusions, and significance. Professors Zhang Shengling, Yang Chengyu, and Lin Yongsheng gave comments respectively.

After the students' reports, Associate Dean Jiang Jie made a summary speech, pointing out that the Undergraduate Academic Forum embodies three aspects of value: first, demystifying scientific research and igniting the enthusiasm for exploration; second, increasingly solid technical training and more standardized research methods; third, the growing awareness of problems and more distinct practical concern. She also emphasized that in the future, through the linkage of academic forums and internship practice forums, students will be encouraged to discover problems from internships and practices, analyze them in academics, and then put forward solutions in reality, so as to achieve a two-way leap between knowledge and ability, and between learning and society. Finally, she expressed earnest expectations for the students present, hoping that more students will broaden their horizons and firm their aspirations through scientific research, and that the Undergraduate Academic Forum of BNUEB will continue to glow with new vitality.

So far, the 11th Undergraduate Academic Forum of BNUBS has achieved a complete success. The Undergraduate Academic Forum has been held 11 times from 2014 to this year, providing an excellent academic exchange platform for undergraduates, and has played an important role in encouraging top-notch innovative talents and improving undergraduates' scientific research capabilities. The future academic forums will carry on the torch, continuously optimize the scientific research training system, encourage more interdisciplinary collaboration, balance discipline participation, and attract lower-grade students to get in touch with scientific research early. At the same time, it will deepen the linkage with practice forums, so that academic exploration can be rooted in reality, helping students become innovative talents with both academic depth and social insight, and continuing to write new chapters for the college's education cause.
