BNUBS Held a Symposium for Representatives of New Graduate Students and a Consultation Meeting on the Revision of the Selection Method for Graduate Scholarships

On October 25, 2024, BNUBS held a symposium for new representatives of 2024 graduate students and a solicitation of opinions on the revision of the selection method for graduate scholarships at 1610 in the main building. Sun Zhijun, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School, Han Lili, Associate Secretary of the Party Committee, Chang Xinyang, Secretary of the Youth League Committee, Wang Jun, organizer of the Party Committee, Gao Jingjing, Zhang Huilin, Xu Kaige, and representatives of the 2024 master's and doctoral classes attended the symposium. The meeting was chaired by Han Lili, Associate Secretary of the Party Committee.

Han Lili first introduced the overall structure of the draft for soliciting opinions on the selection method for graduate scholarships, explained the establishment of various scholarships, and provided detailed explanations on the reasons, purposes, and basis for revising the selection method. In terms of scholarship evaluation, the Schook adopts multidimensional criteria for different types of graduate students: academic graduate students are evaluated based on a focus on research and innovation orientation, while professional graduate students pay more attention to their comprehensive literacy.

At the meeting, representatives from each class actively spoke up and shared the difficulties they have encountered in various aspects such as learning and life, career planning, and awards and honors since enrollment. They also put forward valuable suggestions on scholarship evaluation methods from the aspects that students are generally concerned about, such as research score standards, classification of papers and journals, social practice bonus points, and student work bonus points. The teachers patiently listened and provided detailed answers to the students' needs and doubts.

In his concluding speech, Secretary Sun Zhijun emphasized three aspects: firstly, he praised the good abilities demonstrated by the students in adapting to life, and encouraged everyone to continue to maintain and actively play an exemplary role, driving and influencing the progress of surrounding students; Secondly, for doctoral students, he emphasized that their main focus should be on academic research fields, with academia as the core. They should diligently read literature, think deeply, and promote the formation of a binary training model that combines course training with research projects; Thirdly, for master's students, he reminded them to plan their academic and career paths as early as possible. During the master's stage, they should still focus on their studies and research, constantly improving their academic and professional qualities. He hoped that all class representatives can fully play their role as bridges and links, timely convey the spirit of the meeting, and actively respond to students' questions and demands.

At the symposium for representatives of new graduate students and the solicitation of opinions on the revision of the selection method for graduate scholarships, class representatives actively shared a wide range of collected issues and engaged in in-depth discussions with teachers. They not only expressed their own confusion and needs, but also provided a more in-depth student perspective for the teachers of the School, pointing out the direction for the subsequent work of the School. The School will carefully study the opinions and suggestions of students in the future, and will continue to hold representative symposiums for different student groups to help students achieve comprehensive development in their academic, life, and career planning.
