The 4th Session of "Gathering Wisdom, Integrating Data: Sharpening the Tool First" Training Activity was Successfully Held

On the afternoon of May 21, the 4th session of the "Gathering Wisdom, Integrating Data: Sharpening the Tool First" series of training activities — the special event of "CNRDS Data Empowering Innovative Research" —launched by the Experimental Teaching Center of BNUBS, was successfully held in Room 1632 of Houzhu Building. The event specially invited Xu Mingzhen, a senior lecturer from CNRDS, as the keynote speaker, and it was hosted by Jiang Jie, Associate Dean of the School, with more than ten faculty and students participating.

In this lecture, Teacher Xu Mingzhen mainly focused on five aspects: analysis of data application cases, three modules of the CNRDS database, introduction to hot topics, common problems in database use, and introduction to intelligent text analysis tools. In terms of data application case analysis, starting from academic papers published in two authoritative journals, Journal of Management Science and Management World, Teacher Xu deeply analyzed the data sources of the papers, demonstrating that the CNRDS database provides sample support for high-quality research and highlighting its important value in academic research.

Subsequently, Teacher Xu introduced the CNRDS database system, covering three core modules: basic database, corporate characteristic database, and economic characteristic database. He elaborated on the subdivided databases under each module, such as the IPO Comprehensive Database of Listed Companies, the M&A News Database of Listed Companies, the Digital Economy Research Database, and the China Labor Economy Database. The rich and diverse database resources provide comprehensive and accurate data support for research in the fields of economy, finance, and accounting, broadening the research vision of faculty and students.

Aiming at current academic hotspots, Teacher Xu deeply interpreted the hot topic databases such as innovation patents, new-type productivity, green economy, text mining, supply chain research, and digital economy, helping faculty and students quickly locate data resources that match their research directions and keep up with the latest academic trends. In the database usage demonstration session, Teacher Xu logged in to the CNRDS platform on site and carried out paper data query demonstrations in the fields of economy, finance, and accounting from three retrieval modules: Chinese issue research papers in international top journals, the latest papers in domestic top journals, and the latest papers in international top journals.

Finally, Teacher Xu introduced the Aibenben intelligent text analysis system and conducted practical demonstrations. The system integrates powerful functions such as free search, text analysis, and text mining, providing intelligent data processing support for academic research. In the interactive Q&A session, on-site faculty and students consulted about their own research needs and various problems encountered in the use of the CNRDS database, and Teacher Xu gave solutions with his profound professional knowledge and rich practical experience.

Through this activity, the participating faculty and students not only gained an in-depth understanding of the CNRDS database system and functional modules, but also mastered efficient data retrieval and analysis skills, which provided solid data support and injected new vitality into their academic research.
