The First BNUBS International Students Academic Forum (2022) was Successfully Held

On June 15, 2022, the first BNUBS International Students Academic Forum (2022) was Successfully Held. Six doctoral students of DID English program and one master student of WEC English program from India, Bangladesh, Uzbekistan, Cameroon, Namibia and Uganda were selected and presented academic reports. Prof. He Liping, Prof. Yang Chengyu, Associate Prof. Guo Ji, Associate Prof. Li Sheng, Associate Prof. Liu Pan, Associate Prof. Li Yanan were invited to comment. The forum was moderated by DID and WEC Project Director Associate Professor Zheng Feihu.

  

  

  

  First of all, Professor Cai Hongbo, Associate Dean of BNUBS, made a welcome speech. He pointed out that the first International Student Academic Forum held by BNUBS aims to further expand the academic horizon of international students, enhance academic exchanges between teachers and students, and improve the academic level of international students. The International Student Academic Forum encourages interdisciplinary research and discussion of cutting-edge academic ideas. In the future, we will use the "New Sinology Program" of the Ministry of Education to expand the scope of invited experts and students, and strive to build a brand platform for the training of international talents of BNUBS .  

  

  

  

  The first three academic reports in the morning focused on the themes of international trade, direct investment and innovation, while the second four academic reports in the afternoon focused on the themes of unemployment in developing countries, economic growth, financing constraints and blockchain. The reviewers gave detailed guidance from the theoretical perspective to the empirical method, and from the academic value to the social significance of the report. Professor Yang Chengyu pointed out that international students should think about the logic of research from the perspective of research questions more systematically and find out the proposition of research. Professor He Liping hopes that international students will learn from the international education programs at Beijing Normal University, which will help them use academic research to solve the major economic development problems in their countries.  

  

  

  After a day of fascinating academic reports and exchanges, the first BNUBS International Students Academic Forum was successfully concluded. Rafael Benonia Mwahafa from Namibia and Kihumuro Jotham from Uganda won the Best Performance Award respectively.
