China Behavioral and Experimental Economic Forum 2022 Was Successfully Held in BNUBS

On April 23th, 2022, the fourth "China Behavioral and Experimental Economic Forum 2022 (2022)" was held in Beijing Normal University as scheduled.Being sponsored by Economic Research Magazine, BNUBS, and School of Mathematical Science, Beijing Normal University, this forum is organized by Behavior and Game Decision Laboratory, BNUBS. We have invited experts from Indiana University, University of Arkansas, University of Edinburgh and other overseas renowned universities as well as major universities in China, including Tsinghua University, Peking University, Renmin University of China, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zhejiang University, Fudan University, Nanjing University, Beijing Normal University, East China Normal University, South China Normal University, Nankai University, Wuhan University, Xiamen University, Shanghai International Studies University, NanjingAudit University, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Northeast University of Finance and Economics,Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, Central University of Finance and Economics, Zhejiang University of Finance and Economics, BJTU(Beijing Jiaotong University), MUC(Minzu University of China), Shandong University, Ocean University of China, Central South University, UESTC (University of Electronic Science and Technology of China), Southern University of Science and Technology, Shenzhen University, South China Agricultural University.

 

 

The forum was carried out online and offline, including the opening ceremony, the main forum and 9 sub-forums. More than 40 scholars participated in the conference offline and more than 30 scholars participated in the conference online. The forum attracted nearly 400 scholars and graduate students interested in Behavioral and Experimental Economics to participate in online discussions and exchanges.

 

Before the start of the forum, Professor Qi Yudong, Dean of BNUBS, delivered a speech and extended a warm welcome to all the experts on behalf of BNU Business School. Professor Qi said that Game Theory, Behavioral and Experimental Economics are important areas of economic research.In recent years, BNUBS has made fruitful achievements in academic research, personnel training, and cooperation and exchanges between domestic and foreign scientific research institutions in this field. Then, he also introduced the development history of the Research Center for Behavior and Game Decision and the Experimental Economics Academic Forum of Beijing Normal University in detail. He also pointed out that the forum has provided an academic platform for extensive exchanges and cooperation among scholars in the field of Behavioral and Experimental Economics, which is conducive to fostering excellent academic achievements, and congratulated the China Behavioral and Experimental Economic Forum 2022 on its successful convening.

Subsequently, Xie Qian, Associate Director of Editorial Department of Economic ResearchJournal, made a speech. He pointed out that Behavioral and Experimental Economics, as a theoretical frontier and new research method of economic discipline, has played an increasingly important role in testing economic theories and evaluating public policies aimed at serving China's economic practice.As one of the organizers of this forum, he, on behalf of the editorial department of Economic Research Journal,, extended a warm welcome to the participating scholars, and put forward suggestions to expand the scope of experimental research, improve the research ideology, and avoid the complexity of simple problems. Xie Qian, Associate Director of Editorial Department of Economic Research Journal, made a speech

 

In the following main forum, Professor Zhao Xiaobo from Tsinghua University, Professor Sherry Li from The University of Arkansas, Professor Miao Bin from Renmin University of China, and Professor Huang Zhenxing from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics made keynote report themed “Several studies on behavioral Operations research and Management”,“Reciprocity, image motivation and volunteering: An experiment with children in Colombia”、“Narrowly rational”、“Individual and social preference in children—Evidence from a field experiment in primary schools” respectively.

 

In the first half of the main forum, Professor Zhao Xiaobo reviewed the applied research of experimental economics in behavioral operations research and management in the past ten years, investigated the individual decision preferences of decision-makers in various situations and the social preferences of decision-makers in multi-player game environments, and proposed the future research direction of behavioral operations research and management combined with artificial intelligence.Professor SherryLi conducted an experimental study in Colombia based on children's motivation to volunteer, studying differences in the time allocation of volunteer work of children aged 5 to 12 in different gift visibility environments, so as to further explore the role of altruism, reciprocity and image motivation in their voluntary time allocation decisions.In the second half of the main forum, Professor Miaobin observed the changes of people's investment decisions under different investment scenarios under the framework of showing preference, and explored the boundary of human rationality. Professor Huang Zhenxing engaged in field experiments to study the risk preference, ambiguity preference, time preference and social preference of Chinese adolescents aged 8-12.

It is reported that the forum has received nearly 100 manuscripts and 54 papers were selected after the first review and anonymous committee review. This forum aims to build a high-level academic exchange platform for Behavioral and Experimental Economics in China, promote the in-depth exchange and cooperation between scholars in Behavioral and Experimental Economics and their cutting-edge research achievements, and promote the sustainable development of localization and internationalization of Behavioral and Experimental Economics.
