Hello, Classmates! is officially online!

Due to the national epidemic prevention and control, international students cannot enter and exit the country freely, and many international students from overseas cannot come to the campus smoothly. There are also many exchange students and degree students who expect to study in our school who cannot enter China and are limited to online study.

In order to better let international students integrate the study life of Beijing Normal University and better experience the education, the International Exchange and Cooperation Office of the School of Economics and Management strives to realize cloud communication and cloud interaction through modern scientific and technological means. In September 2021, we specially planned and launched the short film shooting project of “Bring Your Dream Closer” series. Through the perspective of international students, we aim to tell the life of studying abroad in Beijing Normal University, so that more international students who can not come to China can see and feel the campus life. At the same time, it also narrates the distance between teachers and students through videos, so as to experience China, Beijing and Beijing Normal University.

The launching of the project

In the early stage of the project, five shooting themes were determined after several rounds of research, creative collection, theme planning and recruitment of student volunteers. They are: “Hello, Classmates”; “Campus Life”; “Studying Abroad under the Pandemic”; “My perception of Beijing culture”; “Beijing Winter Olympics”. In these videos, we use paper airplanes as a symbol, meaning every dream of every student. During the implementation process of the project, more than 20 overseas students were attracted to participate in the filming and recording, and they chose one or two themes based on their own interests and preferences to participate in the whole process of production. The first one is “Hello, classmate”, which aims to connect students from abroad with students on campus and say hello to teachers and classmates through greetings, self-introduction and other means. The short film collected videos from students of the class of 2021 from Poland, Italy, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and other countries. We also added greetings fromSchool leaders, teachers from Office of International Exchange and Cooperation and the head teachers, as well as international students in the school. The short film is now officially online on December 13, 2021 through post-editing, opinion collection, multiple integration, refining levels, proofreading.

Flying the paper airplanes

Currently, the other four themes are being shot and produced in an orderly way and will be released in the next two months. At that time, the series of short films will be launched on various platforms at home and abroad.
