Great Discussion Forum on Education and Teaching—Internet+ Education and Teaching MOOC Construction Symposium Held Successfully

On the evening of June 24th, 2020, under the chairmanship of associate dean Zhang Pingdan, BNUBS held MOOC Construction Symposium for the Internet+ Education and Teaching. Associate dean Cai Hongbo, Zhao Chunming, He Liping, Dai Mi, Guo Ji, Li Kun, Wang Wenzhou, Zhang Haiyan, Sun Yunchuan, Liu Pan, Xu Xing and Li Liya,etc participated in the Symposium online.

 

 

First of all, associate dean Cai Hongbo introduced and shared the speech made by Vice President Chen Li in the Great Discussion Forum on Education and Teaching with the attendees. Thereinto, the speech talked about four backgrounds for the Great Discussion Forum on Education and Teaching. First, the industrial reform presents new requirements for talent ability; second, the first-class normal university puts forward high requirements for education and teaching; third, the change of the principal contradiction of education calls for a new mode of education service; and the fourth, the development of knowledge concept promotes the change of educational concepts and methods, which fully demonstrates the infiltration and influence of the Internet on education and teaching. Later, associate dean President Cai Hongbo introduced the current development and achievements of Chinese MOOC courses and English MOOC courses of BNUBS.

 

 

In the following interaction session, Zhao Chunming, Wang Wenzhou, Guo Ji, He Liping, Li Kun, Dai Mi, Liu Pan and Zhang Haiyan et al shared their experience and feelings in the process of making MOOC and teaching, made their opinions and view from various aspects like the preparation of construction, recoding, teaching method, the improvement of the teaching effect, homework, and online interaction. They also fully communicated, shared and discussed on some uncertain and details. The teachers agreed that MOOCs are designed for both the general public and college students, so they should consider both sides when designing the courses as much as possible. More attention and effort should also be put into the on-site teaching during the recording of MOOC, the maintenance after the course is launched, and the interaction with students. How to learn from the advantages and highlights of some current online quality courses, and how to make the courses more interesting and various are worth thinking about. Teachers also agreed that under the background of the Internet + education and teaching, MOOC constructions have a very bright future, especially the "popularization" of online teaching triggered by the outbreak. The outbreak has brought good opportunities for the construction of MOOC, promoted the deep integration of information technology and education teaching as well as promoted the construction courses in both English and Chinese and their convergence with the international platforms for the future development.

 

At last, associate dean Zhang Pingdan fully affirmed the teaching of the teachers in MOOC construction and the results of the MOOC construction. He believes that the MOOC construction will have a faster and better development under the further more importance attached by BNU and BNUBS in the future, thereby promoting the deepening of education teaching reform and improvement of talent training quality of BNU.
