Discussion Forum on Education and Teaching—Symposium on English Taught Ph.D Program in Business Administration Held Successfully

On the evening of June 18, 2020, BNUBS organized the Symposium on English Taught Ph.D Program in  Business Management. Associate dean Zhang Pingdan, Cai Hongbo, dean of Accounting Department Wu Qinhong, dean of Human Resource Management Department Chen Yan, dean of Strategic Management Department Jiao Hao, as well as Hao Ying, Tong Luqiong, Zhou Jianghua, Xu Zhixing and Xu Xing attended the Symposium online.

 

First of all, associate dean Zhang Pingdan introduced the background and necessity of developing the Business Administration Ph.D Program in English. In order to meet the needs of international talent training, to better participate in international education competition, to realize the effective docking of domestic and foreign high-quality educational resources, and to give full play to the role of existing international educational and scientific research resources, BNUBS decided to start to design and construct Business Administration Ph.D Program in English.

 

Then, associate dean Cai Hongbo introduced the overall preparation and organization of Doctor of International Development (DID) Program in Theoretical Economics to the attending teachers. Cai introduced the successful experience of the Program in the preparation and implementation. Before the DID Program initiated, BNUBS repeatedly exchanged with relevant schools and departments which have the relevant experience in running the programs, and invited experts to evaluate the DID Program many times. Then BNUBS carefully designed the relevant training scheme, and explored a set of mature enrollment process through the two years attempts. Cai also highlighted some key issues that may be encountered in the training process, such as the whereabouts of students after graduation and the evaluation system and standards for graduation thesis.

 

 

In discussions section, with the combination of Cai’s introduction, the teachers devoted a full discussion on the name, training goals, setting of related credits and courses, and graduation requirements of Business Administration Ph.D Program in English. There was agreement that to develop the distinctive Business Administration Ph.D Program in English based on the successful experience of BNUBS DID Program and relative Programs of other domestic colleges.
