Celebration of the 60th Teaching Year of Mr. Wang Shanmai and China Educational Economics Seminar in the New Era Were Successfully Held

    On the morning of January 13, 2018, the “Celebration of the 60th Teaching Year of Mr. Wang Shanmai and China Educational Economics Seminar in the New Era” were successfully held by BNUBS and the Capital Education Economic Research Institute in BNU. Zhou Zuoyu, Deputy President of BNU, Lai Desheng, Dean of BNUBS and Sun Zhijun, Secretary of the Sub-Party Committee attended the conference. Other participants included: more than 60 experts, scholars and alumni from BNU, Peking University, Renmin University of China, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Nanjing University, Central China Normal University, University of Science and Technology Beijing, National Development and Reform Commission, People’s Publishing House and other universities, government agencies and institutions. The conference was presided over by Sun Zhijun and Professor Du Yuhong from the Department of Education of BNU.
    First of all, Professor Yuan Liansheng from BNUBS gave a full introduction of Mr. Wang Shanmai’s teaching career and major contributions in academic research, discipline construction, talent cultivation and policy consulting. Then leaders and guests delivered speeches.
    Zhou Zuoyu, Deputy President of BNU highly praised Mr. Wang Shanmai's persistent, perseverant, concentrated and innovative academic spirit. Professor Min Weifang, former party secretary of Peking University and professor of Education School of Peking University said in his speech that Mr. Wang Shanmai had made outstanding contributions to promoting the study of educational economics and pushing China’s education reform and development. In his speech, Dean Lai Desheng expressed warm congratulations and high respect for Mr. Wang on behalf of BNUBS and extended a warm welcome and heartfelt thanks to all guests and leaders. Other guests also expressed their congratulations and their insights on the development of China’s education economics. These guests included: Professor Shen Yue, former Party Secretary of BNUBS, Professor Qu Hengchang of the Education Department of BNU, Shi Zihai, Deputy Secretary-General of the National Development and Reform Commission and Director of the Price Department, Li Chunsheng, Deputy President of the People’s Publishing House, Professor Fan Xianzuo of Education School, Huazhong Normal University, Professor Ding Xiaohao of Education School, Peking University, Shen Hong, Professor of School of Education Science, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Professor Wang Rong, Director of China Institute of Educational Fiscal Science, Professor Qu Shaowei, Director of Institute of Educational Economics and Management, University of Science and Technology Beijing, Professor Li Xiangyun of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law.
    Finally, Mr. Wang Shanmai expressed sincere gratitude to the leaders, experts, scholars and alumni. He said he would make greater contributions to reform and development of China’s education, the development of BNU and the discipline of educational economics.
