On 24th Sep. 2017, the 5th China Management Case Competition National Final was successfully held at the School of Business Administration in Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics. After 7 hours preparation, “The Echoing Sound” Team from BNUBS won the second prize, BNUBS MBA Centre won the “Best Organization Award”.

China Management Case Competition is jointly organised by National MPA Education Steering Committee, China Management Case Sharing Centre, China Management Case Sharing League and Chinese Academy of Management Case Studies Committee. Since the establishment in 2013, the competition has aimed at enhancing the comprehensive analysis and decision-making ability of participants through discussing and analysing the hot-spot economic issues in the society and mock trade wars. At present, it is the most influential competition with the most participants among business schools in all universities. Since the 5th China Management Case Competition unveiled in April, it has received 400 competitors from over 70 universities. At last, 16 teams were promoted to the National Final.

The team “The Echoing Sound” from BNUBS was led by Prof. Zhang Haiyan, and were mainly made up by MBA students. In July 2017, the team won the second place in the North Division and was admitted to the National Final.

During the National Final, under the leadership of the tutor and business analyst from Deloitte, the team strived for excellence through team work. During the preparation, students do regular reading, exercises and case sharing to practice their business logic. They arrived at Nan Chang on 20th Sep 2017, and received the case on the next day. After 7 hours preparation, they finally generated the case study report. Based on the SCQA analytical framework, the report focused on the conflicts in management, and provided advice for improvement with a clear business logic, precise target and abundant information.

In the morning of the 24th Sep. 2017, our team contested against the team from Zhejiang University. Finally, through rigorous logic analysis, accurate expression of information, wonderful scene display, appropriate on-site defence and tacit field coordination, our team got a total score higher than USTB.

Even though we didn’t make it to the very final stage, our students have completed their practice, broadened academic view, added new experience, and improved their capabilities. Meanwhile, we have also impressed our partner universities with the educational style of BNU MBA education.

In the future, Beijing Normal University MBA team is expected to have more opportunities to achieve better results in the national competitions, and will surely write down a new chapter in the performance evaluation!
