Glorious Evening, Rockin’ Night – BNU Business School Winning Grand Prizes on the Beijing Normal University Costume Contest

The Beijing Normal University “Unending Road” Costume Contest was held on April the 16th of 2016 in Qiu Jiduan Stadium. After over one month of hard work from the models and designers. This night, following the rhythm of evocative music, they stepped onto their own stage. The theme of this year’s costume is “Unending Road”, representing the Silk Road which would benefit over 100 generations. Jade, tea, spices and porcelain of the Han and Tang Dynasty have made its debut in the world through the Silk Road; also exhibiting ancient China’s culture and spirits along its way. This year’s theme has been divided into four sections, which are “Territory Exploration, Jades Widely Spreading through the Silk Road”, “Elegant, Delicate & Graceful, Serving Tea to Welcome Friends”, “Flourishing Age, Precious Aquilaria, a Song of Fragrance” and “Marine Journeys, Colorful Porcelain”. BNU Business School was the first to perform in the third stage, the keyword of which is “Fragrance”.

The “Unending Road” Costume Contest

As the performances of the first two sections ended, specially invited guests Liu Liu and the Beijing Universities Street Dance Group each presented exciting performances of singing and dancing. Afterwards, as the photos changed on the background screen, the third section finally began; then it was show time for BNU Business School. Following music with a strong rhythm, the models glided onto the stage. Girls had silver headpieces and golden earrings, some wore long skirts which dragged genteelly behind them, as others wore wide-leg trousers…their elegance and beauty easily won over all audiences. Boys wore pale gold tops, and some had rose pink shawls…looking handsome and heroic. Hard work was behind every turn that they made and every costume that they wore; their efforts were definitely payed back by the passionate cheers.

As the four performance sections ended, the “One Dream of China” main show began. The leading models of BNU Business School was Li Runyao and Zhang Yueyao. They wore matching costumes which used white as the main color and were decorated by vivid flowers and gems. Their temperament and charm made them stand out from all others, winning several rounds of applauses from the judges and audiences.

After the final rating, BNU Business School representatives Zhang Yueyao and Li Runyao each won the “Top 10 Female Models” Prize and the “Top 10 Male Models” Prize. This is also the second year in a row that BNU Business School won the First Prize for costume design. Attending audiences were excited to post photos via social media platforms to share their experiences of “returning to the Silk Road”.
