The “13th Five-Year Plan Outlook” Advanced Training Courses

On December the 18th and the 20th of year 2015, the “13th Five-Year Plan Outlook” Advanced Training Courses organized by Beijing Normal University Business School Training Center (EE Center) was held in BNU rear main building. Over 40 attendants from enterprises and public institutions attended this program. “The Five-Year Plan” refers to the national economy and social development five-year outline of China. It is an important component of China’s national economic plan. “The Five-Year Plan” mainly focus on major national construction projects, productivity distribution and important proportion relationships of national economy. It is aimed to set goals and directions for national economic development.
 

The Attendants

After a brief opening ceremony, Prof. Shen Yue from BNU Business School began with the first lesson “New Normal - Review and Preview of China’s Economic Development”. After reviewing the process of China’s economic development, Prof. Shen proposed that China’s extra high-speed economy growth period, which depended on expansionary policies and extensive investment has ended. China economy has entered a slower growth period, and this growth rate will gradually reduce. Future economic development has already entered a “middle-high speed” growth period, and China’s economic development has entered “The New Normal”. Prof. Shen also made a prediction on the long-term economic development situation in the future. Prof. Shen’s profound understanding of the Chinese economydevelopment and precise analysis of China’s macroeconomic situation highly impressed all attendants.

On the afternoon of the 18th, Prof. Yang Xiaowei from BNU Business School gave a course on “The Interpretation of Supply Structure Reform”. Prof. Yang believe that supply structure reform depends on reform increase, making changes oncurrent resource allocation methods, and allowing the market to playits decisive role inresource allocation. Prof. Yang’s introduction on simple cases from real life helped attendants fully understand this topic.

On the morning of the 20th, BNU Business School Professor Li Shi presented a special lecture on “Income Distribution System Reform, AvoidingMiddle-income Traps”. Prof. Li Shi proposed that after 30 years of rapid economy growth, China has become a middle-income country and heading for high-income; a big income gap will make China fall into the middle-income country trap. Therefore, how to narrow the gap in wealth distribution, eliminate unfair distribution and establish a fair distribution systemhas become the main focus of income distribution reform in China; political system reform being its top priority. Massive research data and graph models helped attendants understand the importance of a reasonable income distribution system to the steady development of the society.

On the morning of the 20th, BNU Business School Professor Li Chong gave a lecture on the “Analysis of Financial Risks that China face Under Financial Crises”. Prof. Li analyzed the background, internal and external reasons as well as severe consequences of several international financial crises which mainly influences countries such as Japan, Thailand and Britain; focusing on the two financial crises in Hong Kong (1997, 1998). Prof. Li also fully analyzed possible financial risks that China may face in the future, and proposed practical preventive measures. Prof. Li’s vivid and exciting lecture won over all attendants, receivingseveral rounds of applause. Attendants also fully interacted with Prof. Li through discussion and questions.

After all the “13th Five-Year Plan Outlook” advanced training courses, attendants expressed that they were highly impressed by BNU Business School professors with their profound knowledge and solid academic foundation; they also felt that they gained a lot from the in-depth analysis and clear view points; expressing that they truly look forward the next session.
