On April 27th, 2014, of all 13 competing teams from colleges and universities, Smart Ray team of Beijing Normal University Business School won the fourth IMA Campus Management Accounting Case Competition, and became the national champion.

This competition is hosted by the United States Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), which is the global largest management accountant association. Organized by Tsinghua University, this is a traditional campus event hosted by IMA globally. Before the competition, Bai Junjiang, chief delegate of IMA China and Xia Donglin, the Assistant Dean of Tsinghua University’s School of Economics and Management each gave speeches to congratulate on the successful opening of this year’s competition, and encouraged each team to show their style.

Afterwards, 13 excellent teams from 6 sub-divisions nationwide individually presented English introductions of the competing case on stage, and answered the judges’ questions. The competing teams’ precise conception and exquisite presentation won series of applauds from the audience. Finally, after one day of exciting competition, the Smart Ray team (Zhang Zhen, Yan Mu, Li Zhen, Chen Mingzhe and Liu He) from Beijing Normal University Business School’s accounting and finance departments won over the judges and audience through comprehensive and precise case analysis, exquisite PPT presentation and brilliant speeches in English.

The fourth IMA Campus Management Accounting Case Competition lasted for 7 months in total, around 500 teams from over 150 colleges and universities nationwide entered for this competition. The competition case was mutually designed and developed by theoretical and practical experts from the IMA. Based on typical management accounting practice from actual enterprises, this competition emphasizes on selecting excellent teams with business potentials, who are proficient with knowledge in fields such as finance, marketing, management and communication. The competition invited senior managers and financial executives from well-known domestic and overseas enterprises as well as specialists and scholars from colleges and universities to be the judge. This is the first time that a Beijing Normal University team became the champion in this event.
