Multinational Corporations: Myths and Facts

There are a number of misperceptions concerning globalization expressed by popular media and by both extreme liberal and conservative political-action groups. This lecture focuses on whether multinational national corporations (MNCs) are a problem or are beneficial to socio-economic development. A number of issues identified to be “true” about MNCs are examined to separate myths from facts. The lecture concludes with observations on successful development practices and the conditions necessary for developing countries to achieve prosperity.

演讲者简介
As Dean of the Alex G. McKenna School of Business, Economics, and Government at Saint Vincent College, Dr. Quinlivan oversees approximately 40 full time and adjunct faculty members, 400 undergraduate and graduate students, and four centers. In addition, he is a full professor of economics at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, PA.  He is a member of the Executive Editorial Board of the Journal for Markets and Morality published by the Acton Institute. Quinlivan received his PhD in economics from the University at Albany and BA at State University of New York at Geneseo. Dr. Quinlivan has co-edited or authored seven books, six monographs, and has written numerous articles in the areas of international trade, public finance, and international finance, his most recent book is Public Morality, Civic Virtue and the Problem of Modern Liberalism (co-edited with T. William Boxx). Dr. Quinlivan is one of the key administrators dedicated to enhancing Saint Vincent College’s academic links to China. He has traveled to China 32 times and has negotiated ten academic affiliations between Saint Vincent College and some of the best universities in China, including Beijing Normal University.
