讲座题目：Boundary Spanning by Design: Towards Aligning Boundary-spanning Capacity and Strategy in IT Outsourcing

讲座摘要：
IT Outsourcing (ITO) has become a strategic imperative for modern organizations. However, managing ITO projects is challenging, because they are intrinsically complex and susceptible to various issues. Boundary spanning is an effective approach toward ITO management, but it has received limited attention from extant studies, which have mainly focused on the client perspective and overlooked the vendor. In this study, we fill that gap by studying boundary spanning of two ITO vendors. The data collection and analysis are guided by a novel and sound theoretical lens – the alignment between boundary-spanning capability and strategy. Two alignment models have thus been derived. The alignment-form model depicts the outlook of the alignment, and the aligning-path model depicts the process of achieving the alignment. From these two models, we further derive that vendor boundary spanning occurs by design. The study complements the ITO literature by providing a more complete picture of the boundary-spanning mechanism. It also complements the boundary-spanning literature by exploring the relationship between boundary spanners and boundary-spanning strategy.

主讲人简介：
杜文宇博士毕业于新加坡国立大学信息系统系。主要研究方向包括IT外包和数字化转型。杜博士的研究方法以案例研究为主。目前已经调研过国内外20多家知名企业，例如东软集团，中国移动，苏宁云商，海南航空，Jovoto (德国), Twago (德国) 等。杜博士已经有多篇文章发表在重要国际学术期刊，如，IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, Information Systems Journal, MIS Quarterly Executive 和International Journal of Information Management. 另外还有多篇文章在审稿阶段。另外，杜博士也有多篇文章被国际信息系统年会(ICIS) 和亚太信息系统年会（PACIS）收录。杜博士的论文在2010年获得ICIS最佳论文提名，2016年获得PACIS 最佳论文提名。
