内容简介：
The proportion of interethnic marriage in China doubled since the 1960s and this paper examines the role of theOne-Child Policy in it. The policy potentially increases the intermarriages because Han-Minority couples in certain regions are allowed to bear more children. Using temporal and regional variations in the policy enforcement, this paper finds the evidence and argues that the One-child policy explains one fourth of the increase in the intermarriages. It also finds the interethnic couples in regions with more restrictiveenforcementtendsto have lower education, higher demand for children ex ante and bear more children ex post. These findings highlight the possibility of individualbehavior response to undesired government policies among certain people and the potentialunintended social consequences.
演讲嘉宾简介：
Yi Zhou is a PhD Candidate in Demography at University of California at Berkeley. His interested fields include Economic Demography, Health Economics and International Trade. His previous papers, including coauthored ones, have been published on several international and Chinese journals, such as Social Science & Medicine, Auditing: A Journal of Practice and Theory, 经济研究 and经济学（季刊）。
