The School of Economics, Beijing Normal University (BNU), in cooperation with the International Development Research Centre of Canada, Regional Office for Southeast and East Asia, are co-hosting a “Learning Forum” on 23-24 March at BNU.
The aim of the Forum is to provide an opportunity for GGP supported partners in China to exchange information of their research projects and to discuss policy research issues of common interest.  The Forum will also serve as a venue for researchers and other invited participants to identify important areas for future collaborative research within the context of IDRC’s new program initiative on “Supporting Inclusive Growth”.
Current research initiatives in China supported by IDRC include work on informal employment, demographic and economic changes, social protection, trade and economic integration, public budget reform and social policy, fiscal and monetary policy, poverty reduction and inequality, and work on the China’s policy responses to the recent global financial crisis and post-crisis situation.  The Forum will feature presentations from each of the GGP supported projects to learn of research results, policy applications, capacity building and development lessons.
This Forum is the first all partners meeting in China.  It is expected that the proceedings of the Forum will be disseminated to all participants and that it will lay the foundation for greater networking and cross-learning of IDRC supported initiatives for the future.
