On December 22, 2023, the seminar "Labor Market Reform in the Era of Digital Economy" hosted by BNUBS and the Labor Market Research Center of Beijing Normal University was successfully held. Lai Desheng, Deputy Director of the Department of Social and Ecological Civilization of the Party School of the CPC Central Committee (Chinese Academy of Governance); Gao Wenwen, Vice President of the University of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; Zhao Zhong, Dean of the School of Labor and Human Resources of Renmin University of China; and Wang Dashu, Professor of the School of Economics of Peking University;He Qin, Professor of School of Labor Economics, Capital University of Economics and Business; Zhang Yan, editor-in-chief of Economics Section of Guangming Daily; Zhang Jing, Director editor of Workers' Daily; Li Chang 'an, Professor of School of Public Administration, University of International Business and Economics; Su Lifeng, Professor of Research Center for Education and Development Economics, University of International Business and Economics; Li Fuhua, Dean of Institute of Higher Education, Qingdao University; Sun Baicai, Dean of Teachers College of Qingdao University; Sun Zhijun, Secretary of Party Committee of School of Economics and Business Administration of Beijing Normal University; CAI Hongbo, Vice Dean; Jiao Hao, Dean of Department of Digital Economy and Management and more than 40 experts and graduate students from the Party School of the CPC Central Committee (Chinese Academy of Governance), Beijing Normal University, University of International Business and Economics, Beijing Union University, Zhengzhou University and other institutions attended the meeting.

Labor Market Change in the Digital Economy Era, organized by the Labor Market Research Center of Beijing Normal University and published by Beijing Normal University Press, is the 12th study on the development of China's labor market released by the center. Project host Professor Lai Desheng introduced in his speech that the digital economy has become the main economic form in China, with the vigorous development of the digital economy, China's labor market has also shown many new characteristics. The analysis of labor market reform in the era of digital economy is not only in response to the CPC Central Committee's call for "constantly strengthening, improving and expanding our country's digital economy", but also provides a scientific basis for strengthening the implementation of the employment first strategy and promoting the high-quality development of the labor market.

Professor Sun Zhijun gave a report on the main achievements of the project. In the era of digital economy, the new generation of information technology continues to penetrate in the fields of production, service and life, and has a wide impact on the labor market through the expansion of market scope, intelligent automation, platforms and digital skills, showing eight characteristics: first, the digital economy leads to structural changes in the labor market;Second, the digital economy expands the boundaries between employment and work; Third, digital skills are becoming an increasingly important barrier to employment. Fourth, digital economy improves the allocative efficiency of labor market; Fifth, digital economy is a double-edged sword that affects the quality of employment. Sixth, the development of digital technology is accompanied by the reshaping of income distribution pattern; Seventh, new employment based on digital technology challenges traditional labor relations; Eighth, the digital economy is reshaping Labour market governance.To this end, the project results put forward policy recommendations to promote the high-quality operation of the labor market in the era of digital economy: First, we should adhere to the strategy of giving priority to employment in the context of digital economy, and build an employment support policy system that ADAPTS to the development of digital economy; The second is to break down employment barriers and make full use of the job creation effect of the digital economy; Third, we should improve the digital skills training system; Fourthly, we should standardize platform employment and promote fair distribution of labor income. Fifth, we need to consolidate the foundation of the digital economy and stimulate the dividend of human capital.

The release of Labor Market Reform in the Digital Economy aroused heated discussions among the participating experts, who congratulated the Labor Market Research Center of Beijing Normal University for publishing the high-quality results for 12 consecutive times. The paper also discussed some important frontier issues such as digital skills, new employment forms, education policy, social security system and income distribution structure in the era of digital economy.

Labor Market Reform in the Age of Digital Economy is the landmark result of the series of research reports of Beijing Normal University, which is committed to providing the latest results for academic research in the field of labor and employment, providing support and reference for policy formulation, and contributing to telling the story of China's development.
