In the transformation of power system in North China, Inner Mongolia will become an important energy base, and the inter-regional power transmission scale will be greatly increased. Early installation investment decisions create "lock-in effects" that influence future dependence on different technologies and decarbonization paths. Although the transformation may increase the cost of power system and change the cost structure of power system, it would bring huge long-term environmental and climate benefits.
