Our School has Reached Cooperation with the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics, University of Wisconsin-Madison

On the morning of November 20th, BNUBS held bilateral network talks with the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Professor Guanming Shi, Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Cai Hongbo, Associate Dean of BNUBS, Teacher Cao Siwei of Economics Department, Xie Jia, Director of the Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, and Shang Yihong, Director of the Project attended the meeting.

 

Cai Hongbo, Associate Dean of BNUBS, introduced to Professor Shi Guanming the development achievements and vision of BNU and BNUBS in recent years, focusing on the achievements of the internationalization of our school and the future work priorities. Professor Cai Hongbo pointed out that Beijing Normal University, as a "double first-class" university construction school, shouldered the responsibility to carry out high-quality internationalization. As a young and vigorous school of Beijing Normal University, BNUBS was looking forward to cooperating with world-class universities and disciplines like the University of Wisconsin-Madison. It is conducive for our students to go to the world from our School. It is also conducive to the other side to better understand China and open the door of academic exchanges and friendship.

 

Professor Shi then introduced the basic situation of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, fully affirmed the excellent qualities of the students of Beijing Normal University, and expressed his keen desire to cooperate with our School. The two sides conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on the "3+1+1 Double Degree Program", exchange visits between teachers and students, joint training of doctoral students and other topics. Both parties indicated that they would start the work of signing MoU and related agreements and carry out exchanges and cooperation in various aspects as soon as possible.

 

The University of Wisconsin-Madison (UW-Madison), founded in 1848, is located in Madison, the capital of the State of the University of Wisconsin and it ranked 35th in  USNEWS World University in 2019. The university is the flagship institution of the University of Wisconsin system and a founding member of the Association of American Universities, an academic association of the top Universities in North America. It is known as the "Public Ivy League" university. UW-Madison enjoys a high reputation in various disciplines and fields, producing 23 Nobel Prize winners, 38 Pulitzer Prize winners and 12 National Medal of Science winners. It has 87 members of the National Academy of Sciences, 26 members of the National Academy of Engineering, 61 members of the National Academy of Arts and Sciences, and 8 members of the National Academy of Medicine.
