China-Norway Education Day & Labor Market Forum Were Successfully Held

On April 18, 2018, “China-Norway Education Day” was jointly held by China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE), SIU and BNU, and co-organized by the Norwegian Association of Higher Education Institutions at BNU. As one of the important agendas for Iselin Nybø, Norway’s Minister of Research and Higher Education, the “China-Norway Education Day” aims to “enhance the mutual understanding and promote the common development of education” and attracts 250 representatives from 80 universities and colleges in China and Norway.

The Labor Market Forum, undertaken by BNUBS and Labor Market Research Center of BNU, was presided over by Lai Desheng, Dean of BNUBS and Hong Wu, Associate Professor of the Oslo University College.

Professor Yang Juan from BNUBS introduced the research results of education expansion and urban wage gap in China; Professor E Mingcheng from Beijing Jiaotong University and his team at home and abroad introduced the exploration in the universities in recent years. Dan Bjorke, director of the Norway BI Business School, Beijing office, discussed the combination of science and technology and education and its development trend based on the cooperation of Tsinghua-BI. Bjornar Borvik, assistant professor at the Law School of Bergen University in Norway, shared the similarities and differences of law in theory and practice and introduced their international projects of Law School. Li Bin, Professor of the BNU’s Law School analyzed the labor protection in trade and investment. Dr. Zhu Min of BNUBS examined the gender differences in education in China and other countries. In the subsequent questioning and discussion sessions, the guests expressed their opinions in warm atmosphere.

At last, Dean Laisheng, who was invited to sum up the Labor Market Forum at the main forum, again pointed out the importance of the labor market issue to the development of the two countries. Also, the relationship between labor market and education & innovation is worth further understanding. At the same time, he proposed the two countries and universities to continue to expand cooperation fields and strengthen cooperation. The China-Norway Education Day & Labor Market Forum was successfully concluded.
