On October 25th, 2020, in order to explore the key mechanism and core points of enterprise digital transformation under the new globalization, the seminar on "Development of Globalization and Digital Transformation of Enterprises" was held at X-lab, Tsinghua Science park, hosted by BNUBS; Economic Management magazine; Research Center for Dynamic Competition and Innovation Strategies, THUBS; China Digital Trade Research Institute, ZJU; and sponsored by Hua Zhang Branch of Machinery Industry Press. Many scholars and researchers from academic and industrial field gathered at X-Lab to discuss the digital transformation of enterprises. This seminar was conducted both online and offline, and more than 10,000 researchers have participated in this seminar through the online platform.

The meeting was consisted of six units. The first unit was chaired by Professor Li Jizhen, Associate Dean of School of Management, Tsinghua University. Wan Bing, Vice President of Siemens Avida Management Consulting, shared the ways, strategies and techniques of digital transformation based on his practical experience. An Xiaopeng, Vice President of Aliresearch, shared the report "Releasing Digital Dividends is the Focus of Creating a Double Cycle" online. He pointed out that the key to the new double-cycle pattern is to give full play to the advantages of the domestic super-large scale market, and the big challenge for companies in the future was how to face the rise of consumer sovereignty. In addition, he also pointed out that the basic contradiction of digital transformation was the contradiction between the enterprise's global optimization demand and the fragmented supply.

The second unit was presided over by Liu Jianli, Deputy Editor and Editorial Director of Economic Management. Mao Jiye, Dean of the Business School, RUC, delivered a theme report on "From Bureaucratic Enterprises to Platform-based Ecological Organizations: Non-preset Changes". Using the method of case study, Professor MAO deeply studied the transformation process of the traditional beauty and hair salon enterprise JOLYVIA, and put forward the three-stage transformation model from the hierarchical enterprise to the platform-based ecological group-- the pilot stage, the promotion stage and the deepening integration stage. Then, Professor Qi Yudong, Dean of our school, delivered a report themed with "Digital Economy and Enterprise Management Innovation". On the one hand, Professor Qi Yudong interpreted the characteristics and trend of digital economy. On the other hand, he proposed that enterprises facing digital economy should innovate from the aspects of internal management innovation, marketing model, production model and R&D model to keep up with the pace of digital economy. At last, Professor Li Jizhen, Deputy Dean of School of Economics and Management, Tsinghua University, shared the theme report of "Thinking at the Bottom of Digital Transformation". Professor Li pointed out that digital transformation should be considered and studied in depth from the three aspects, including digital technology, organizational change and user’s role, so as to promote enterprises to complete digital transformation faster and better.

The third Unit was a dialogue between academic field and business field. As for the demand of the industry for domestic theoretical innovation and whether there was any difference between domestic and foreign enterprises, the Vice President of Aliresearch, An Xiaopeng, pointed out that the business practice of China's digital transformation was very rich, but the theory was still relatively backward, so it is an urgent need for the summarization of experience of business practice. Professor Mao pointed out that the industry's demand for theory was huge, and the nature of management determined that theoretical research can never surpass practice. The digital economy era gave China a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for theoretical innovation. Professor Qi Yudong pointed out that Economics and Management should pay more attention to the combination of theory and practice, and the innovation of theory. Professor Yu Jiang pointed out that enterprises would encounter a lot of problems in digital transformation and still needed support from the theoretical circle. Wan Bing, Vice President of Siemens Avida Management Consulting, suggested that scholars can conduct interdisciplinary research and wondered whether there would be anti-digitization possibility in the future. Professor Ji Zhen emphasized that the digital transformation of enterprises was very urgent, and the guidance of theoretical innovation was also very urgent. In the end, Professor Mao answered two questions, one online and one offline.

The fourth unit was presided by Professor Qi Yudong. Professor Ma Shuzhong, Dean of China Institute of Digital Trade, Zhejiang University, through online video, delivered a theme report "Alert to Digital Taxes as New Trade Protectionism Hinders Global Digitization Process". Professor Ma said that with the development of the global digital economy, industry digitization has become a trend. In this process, we should be vigilant that digital tax may become a new type of trade protectionism to hinder the global digitization process. Yu Jiang, director of the Digital Innovation Committee of the Chinese Science and Technology Policy Research Institute and professor of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, shared the theme report of "Digital Innovation and Transformation Thinking under the New Situation". According to the characteristics and background of digital transformation of enterprises, Professor Yu Jiang proposed that the future of industrial Internet has come. Finally, he put forward some thoughts on how to do digital innovation research well.
