The International Forum on Income Distribution & the 30th Anniversary Celebration of CHIP Were Successfully Held in BNU

The 30th Anniversary Celebration of the International Forum on Income Distribution & China Household Income Survey (CHIP) was successfully held in BNU. Guests attending the event included Zhao Renwei, Chairman of the Academic Committee of the China Institute of Income Distribution, John Knight, Professor of Oxford University, Azizur Rahman Khan, Professor of the University of California, Riverside, Carl Riskin, Professor of the City University of New York, and Li Shi, Executive director of the China Institute of Income Distribution (CIID), Liu Hao, Vice director of CIID, Lai Desheng, Dean of BNUBS, Sun Zhijun, Party Secretary of BNUBS, Cheng Enjiang, Ford Foundation Project Officer, Zhang Ping, Researcher of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Zhang Ming from Teachers College of Columbia University, Terry Sicular, Professor of University of Western Ontario, Wei Zhong, researcher of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Sylvie Démurger, Professor of the French National Scientific Research Center, Björn Gustafsson, Professor of the University of Gothenburg, Xue Jinjun from Nagoya University, Japan, Professor Zhao Zhong and Yue Ximing from Renmin University of China, Deng Quheng, researcher of the CASS, Meng Xin, Professor of Australian National University, Professor Xia Qingjie from School of Economics, Peking University, Ma Xinxin, Professor of Hitotsubashi University, Vamsi Vakulabharanam from University of Massachusetts Amherst, and etc. More than 100 people, including project partner representatives, project team members, and data users, witnessed the 30th anniversary of CHIP.


In the Forum on Income Distribution, scholars shared some of their research findings on the use of CHIP data. Chinese and foreign experts and scholars have launched a heated discussion on the current hot issues of China’s income distribution.


The Anniversary Celebration includes the CHIP 30 Anniversary Achievements Exhibition and Review Speech. The Exhibition showed the fruitful research results generated based on CHIP data in the past 30 years. In the Review Speech hosted by Li Shi, Executive Dean of CIID, early members of several CHIP projects spoke on the stage, reviewing their own stories with CHIP and expressing their gratitude, blessings, recognition and expectations for CHIP.


Finally, the two-day international forum on income distribution & the 30th anniversary celebration of CHIP successfully concluded. CIID will work side by side with the CHIP to uphold the mission of its predecessors and serve the society with reliable data and excellent results.
