National MBA Seminar on “Enhancing Morality, Fostering Talents” Held at BNU

On December 1, 2017, the National MBA Seminar on “Enhancing Morality, Fostering Talents” was held at Yingdong Academic Hall at BNU. The seminar was hosted by National Graduate Education Guidance Committee of MBA degree and organized by BNUBS. Ms. Chen Li, Vice President of BNU attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Mr. Tang Jiwei, Deputy Inspector of Department of Degree Management and Postgraduate Education of Ministry of Education, and Office of Degree Committee of the State Council; Mr. Song Zhiping, Chairman and Secretary of the Party committee of China Building Materials Group Co., Ltd., Member of the National Graduate Education Steering Committee of MBA degree; Mr. Yang Bin, Secretary General of the National Graduate Education Guidance Committee of the National MBA degree, and Vice President of Tsinghua University; Mr. Wang Fanghua, Director of Shanghai Municipal Society for Management Science, Dean of Antai College of Economics and Management of Shanghai Jiaotong University; distinguished MBA teacher representatives, excellent MBA alumni, and MBA management staffs, altogether 200 members attended the seminar.

Through following and implementing the ideology of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era and the spirits of the 19th CPC National Congress, the seminar aimed at discussing ideological and political education work, talking about the new situation in curriculum construction, exploring new ideas, as well as exchanging new experience.

The opening ceremony of the morning session was chaired by Prof. Lai Desheng, Dean of the BNUBS.

Vice President Ms. Chen Li welcomed the guests and pointed out that this seminar is an important meeting to thoroughly study and implement the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress. An important topic of the seminar is to explore the way to further develop MBA education in the new era. Beijing Normal University will further carry on the fine tradition of “moral education” and deep cultural heritage throughout the whole process of MBA construction, create MBA education with distinct characteristics of normal universities.

Mr. Tang Jiwei, Deputy Inspector of Department of Degree Management and Postgraduate Education of Ministry of Education, and Office of Degree Committee of the State Council, made an important speech. He stressed that the implementation of the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress, affirmed the central position of “moral education” in postgraduate education, and “Chinese characteristics” as the fundamental foothold. He believed that MBA education should shoulder the historical mission and social responsibility, cultivate high-level talents and leading talents in the economic and social development. In addition, he pointed out that MBA education has some problems at the same time, and put forward three questions including how to conduct system construction, improve the ideological education, and improve political education through establishing the tutors team.

Mr. Yang Bin, Secretary General of the National Graduate Education Guidance Committee of the National MBA degree, and Vice President of Tsinghua University, delivered a speech. Secretary General Yang Bin stressed that major social contradictions in our country have changed and will affect all aspects of the society. China’s MBA education institutions should learn from and implement the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress, gain a profound understanding from new ideas, new judgments, new goals proposed on the 19th CPC National Congress, closely stay with practice, serve the demand, improve and development quality, explore new ideas, explore new initiatives, fully implement the fundamental task of “enhancing morality and fostering talents”, and write a new chapter in China’s MBA Program.

Prof. Cai Jiming, Director of Political Economy Research Center of Tsinghua University were also invited to the conference. He gave a keynote speech themed with adhering to the new concept of development, promoting the new four modernizations, based on his study on the 19th CPC National Congress. Prof. Cai Jiming interpreted the basic strategy of socialism with Chinese characteristic in the new era, put forward effective suggestions from five aspects of Chinese economy targeted at social problems.

Mr. Song Zhiping, Chairman and Secretary of the Party committee of China Building Materials Group Co., Ltd., Member of the National Graduate Education Steering Committee of MBA degree; Mr. Wang Fanghua, Director of Shanghai Municipal Society for Management Science, Dean of Antai College of Economics and Management of Shanghai Jiaotong University delivered speeches respectively. They reflected and made suggestions on the development of MBA education in China. Mr. Song Zhiping emphasized the importance of corporate culture and entrepreneurial spirit. Mr. Wang Fanghua put forward that MBA education should have a standardized and guaranteed quality to maintain the development of the brand.

As MBA teacher representatives, Prof. Xing Yiqun from Zhejiang University School of Management, associate professor Yang Dongning from Peking University Guanghua School of Management delivered a keynote speech around “Never forget your original intention, teach and educate people, create values for students”. They took their own teaching experience as examples, emphasized the importance of thinking pattern and values in MBA teaching.

MBA alumni representatives shared their thoughts to encourage students to undertake social responsibility, contribute to the home university and the society.

In the afternoon, MBA program managers from different universities shared their experience in MBA management. Dean Lai Desheng stressed four focal points, including taking culture as the guide, teacher as demonstration, practice oriented and system as guarantee. Through exchanging and sharing views, all institutions were rewarded with knowledge. They expressed their will to build MBA education under the spirit of the 19th CPC National Congress, adhere to the fundamental MBA education, implement “Moral Education”, all-round education, and actively create a new situation in China’s MBA education.
