Professor Li Shi Was Invited to the 17th Sun Yefang Economic and Science Award Presentation Ceremony

The 17th Ceremony of Sun Yefang Economic Science Award also known as “China’s Nobel Prize for Economics” was held this morning at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. A total of 3 winning entries and 3 winning papers were evaluated.

“Analysis of Changes in China’s Income Gap ---- A Study on Income Distribution in China IV” (People’s Publishing House, May 2013 Edition) by Prof. Li Shi and Prof. Sato (Japan) and Stalin (Canada) were awarded. This is the third prize for Prof. Li Shi this year.

Awarding remarks:

Based on data collected from the Chinese household income survey, the book empirically verified the changes in income distribution in China during 2002-2007 and their causes, and explored the market evolution of consumer, education and migrant workers, urban income inequality in the labor market, as well as unemployment, gender Wage differences, differences in income among different ethnic groups, differences in housing ownership and other issues. The researches have very realistic reference and significance. After reviewing session, Sun Yefang Economic Science Foundation Award Committee reported to the Council for approval, and decided to grant the Book Award of Sun Yefang Economic Science Award for the seventeenth edition of the book.

Prof. Li Shi is the Professor of BNJUBS, Executive Director of China Institute of Income Distribution, and Chair Professor of Changjiang Scholar. After 30 years of hard work in the area of income distribution research, he made a lot of academic achievements and trained dozens of high-level personnel. His academic achievements were awarded with the Sun Yefang Economics Prize three times and the Zhang Peigang Development Economics Prize and the China Economic Theory Innovation Prize, making him one of the few scholars who won several major awards in the Chinese economics field.
