Discovering the Start of Silk Road -- BNUBS WEC program Social Practice at Xi’an

On 5th June 2017, eight people from BNUBS went to Xi’an City in Shaan Xi province for WEC program’s social practice. The aim for the trip is to help international students to learn Chinese history and culture.

 

Xi’an is in the list of National Famous Historical and Cultural Cities issued by the State Council. It is the capital city of 13 dynasties, the starting point of Silk Road and the one of the important birthplaces of the Chinese nation and Chinese civilization. Students visited Mausoleum of the First Qin Emperor, the Terracotta Army Museum, and was attracted by the world cultural heritage and the precious cultural wealth of the Chinese nation. In the History Museum of Shaanxi Province, students studied the historical origins and the development of the Silk Road. In the evening, they watched the exquisite intangible cultural heritage----Chinese Shadow Puppetry.

 

After three days visits, international students from several countries have broaden their horizons, and have expressed their interest in studying the history of China. The trip added valuable memories to their learning experiences in china. Students from 2015 WEC, who are about to graduate have expressed their willingness to contribute to the friendship between China and their home countries in the future.
